The Old Crow

I'm loving this silhouette crow picture. The reason why I love it so much is because I made it and it cost me zero dollars. Did I mention it only took 15 minutes to make too? So darn easy and so darn sweet.
So here is what you need...
First, I googled crow sihlouettes, found one I liked and printed it. Then I found paper I liked, cut out the crow image. The printer ink wasn't as strong or vibrant as I would have liked. So after I cut out the image, I went over it with a Sharpie Marker.  I will warn you, it will leave some streaking, so be careful. Then I cut out the size of the background paper I would need to fit in the frame that I already had. I taped the image on to the background paper popped it into the frame and voila!

I was also thinking it would be sweet to do a similar idea with a cat or an owl for hallowe'en.
Thanks for stopping by. If you are a Canadian, have a happy Thanksgiving weekend!

My blog got a little makeover...

I'm still working away at making over my blog.
I've tried so many different things, I just don't know what I like best.
Too many options...
And not enough time.

I don't believe that this is the one to stay.

What do you think?

Happy October!

To bring in the new month, I thought I'd give you a glimpse of some of the fall/autumn decorating that has been happening around the house here. With Thanksgiving less than a week away (Yes, one week - I'm Canadian) I thought I better spruce up the house. I'd be lying if I gave you the idea that I just did some of this just this weekend. It's been going on for a little while now. However, I haven't had the time to post and my camera was not cooperating every time I tried to download these photos. So anyway, here it is...

DRUM ROLL PLEASE...

These are the wreath's I made with multi-coloured yarn strung around an old styrofoam wreath. I added the flowers, which I picked up at Wal-Mart for $1.97 - They clip on, which is awesome!
This top one is my favourite!

Now, this was the beginning of my vignette...

I had these galvanized jugs from the dollar store, I put some fall floral stuff in them, covered it with moss and it's instantly beautiful. Well, at least I think so...

This is an old tool box I picked up at a yard sale. The lady didn't even want any money for it, she said, take it, it's yours! Originally it was white and brown. I sanded and repainted it. I glamed it up with some pumpkins and ribbon. Now it's ready for fall!

I've had these little jewels forever. I pull them out when the season is right. The candle was a new purchase. But I love that these jewels work so well with fall and winter. I usually just switch out the colour of candles depending on the holiday.

My fun little arrangement with mini-pumpkins, gourds, pine cones & nuts. When my friends bring their kids over to visit, they love this arrangement, I don't know why - maybe it's the corn?

The Harvest Sign was purchased at Hobby Lobby - I used my 40% coupon, of course!
Now it's beginning to come together...

The old crow, my favourite. I've had him for a couple years now.
I'm loving these metallic looking pumpkins I got a couple weeks ago at a home and garden store in Weyburn. They are so darn cute.

Made a few minor switches...

A little switching... I  just can't decide where I like things best.
I'm guilty of ALWAYS tweaking.

AND FINALLY - my outdoor wreath.
I just put this together yesterday.
When Mr. Shane gets some time off work, we'll be decorating outside next!

For now, this is all I've got. Mr Shane thinks it's enough and it's time to focus on the outside. We'll see, I know i'll be dragging something home - or finding a new fall craft to make soon enough.
Hopefully next week, I can show you all what we've done outside.
Have a great week,
Katie

A make-over/under story

This weekend, I was fiddling around with my blog. I was trying to change the layout, make it pretty, you get what i'm saying. My blog is a part of me, so I wanted it to be creative, organized and fun. We'll I messed up when I hit the wrong button and lost my original blog. Long story short, what you see now is what you get...

So i'm asking you all for some help. I'm totally clueless when it comes to this technical stuff. I use a MacBook Pro and that is even a bit to advanced for me at times! I'm looking for free cool, fun templates to update my blog. Any suggestions? I remind you, it must be very easy for me to apply it to myself. Let me tell you figuring out blogger almost put me in the psych ward! Just kidding, but it was close. I would love to hear what your thoughts are!!!

Next up, how cool are these pumpkins? I know you want to make your own, right? Now this is a TRUE Makeover Story, just like I promised. I think an even better one than my own.

Totally awesome tutorial. You know you'll want to do it when you see how easy it is! It's now on my project list. Thanks to Tatertots and Jello!

And again, please send me your suggestions with my blog makeover. I welcome absolutely anything you can think of!

Thanks for droppin' by! See you next time.
